What to do during vacations

I'm curious what folks do when they leave for a vacation - a few days, a week, whatever. I was gone for four days and my tea tree got quite unhappy, but it was a good re-set from over-watering and it bounced back extremely well.
If you're going to be gone for a few days to a week (or more), how do you prepare your bonsai / what do you do for them?

Personally, I would ask a trusty friend or family member to water the plants if I were on vacation.
I’ve seen videos on YouTube where people made contraptions with bucks of water and string / wicker material to make a self watering system.

The key word is "trusted". Most of us have horror stories.
Find a plant person. Nobody else will water the trees correctly every day. Don't try to teach how to do it in five minutes.
I have a college student who waters them and feeds the fish when I am gone. In seven years, since he was in high school, I have lost two trees - his average is better than mine. He just filed for graduation, and will probably be moving. I am not in a panic yet. Yet.

I have a sprinkler system. And typically every other day someone drops by, checks whether it runs and verifies that all trees are still on the benches / not drying out.
In summer, the irrigation runs twice a day for 10-15 minutes, soaking everything. When I am around I hand-water.

The fewer vacations you take the more money you have to buy better trees and nicer pots!
When asking friends, remember that keeping vegetable and flower gardens alive is not the same as potted plants in very well draining soil. If you are asking someone that is in a relationship be specific about which one you are asking. We've come back from a trip and the 1st thing out of my mouth was, "Well, it was definitely K who did the watering. Not V."

Usually I trust... trustfull people.
Last year when in Japan my wife watered all of them an none died, after 20 days.
I don't trust neighbours, teenagers, employees. I had my experiences with those in the past, and they were not happy.

We were away from home about five days and got an email from my youngest, "Was I supposed to water the outside plants, too?"
Sigh.
Sigh.
