Hello.
I have been gifted what looks like an European Spruce from a friend that has too many plants.
This is my first plant, and apparently it was kept away from direct sunlight, indoors, in its original pot.
The website suggests this would be best kept outsidde but I am not sure.
Any advice as to some steps to take to keep it alive and bringing back its vitality and color?
I live in TN, with hot humid summers and mild winters.
Thank you!

Look around a bit on this forum and you'll see the advice about plants like this is always the same:
Its a juniper. It belongs outdoors. It is not a bonsai, but a young plant. Decorative stones and dead moss were added to the pot, which is not a bonsai pot either, probably to make it mimic a bonsai more.
It will live indoors for a while, but it will not survive the indoor climate in the long run.
It's pretty far gone already, but you can try and take it outside - not in full sun, yet.
Remove the rubbish from the soil.
Does this pot have drainage holes?

Wrongly, unfortunately. It should be outside at all times.Totyroby wrote: This is my first plant, and apparently it was kept away from direct sunlight, indoors, in its original pot.
Yes. Put it outside, in dappled shade, don't fertilize, water properly.Totyroby wrote: Any advice as to some steps to take to keep it alive and bringing back its vitality and color?

TN is Tennessee, just north of AL, Alabama, where I am. They have long hot summers and maybe a month of real winter, while we have a week or two.
