Hello. I had a bonsai once before but had to leave it behind when I moved. last autumn my boyfriend gifted me a Texas Ebony. It is only a sapling and I have kept it in the container it came in. It has done wonderfully so far. I’ve read that they can be an indoor/outdoor bonsai. I live in New Mexico so it is a dry desert climate perfect for this tree. In the winter it was indoors in front of a large window and was brought outside when temperatures did not dip below 45 degrees F. My house is dark and does not get much light. It resides under a large awning out of direct sunlight but gets plenty of indirect light. The summer temperatures have reached 103 degrees F this past month. The tree has had some yellow leaves. I would pinch them off and continue watering it. I don’t wait until it is completely dry. I water again when it is barely damp. I have not added anything to the soil or trimmed. It is still fairly small and has new green leaf growth. There is still new leaf growth but most of the older leaves have now turned yellow. I am at a loss for what to do. Is there any information or advice you could share with me? I don’t want this tree to die especially since it was a gift from my boyfriend. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks
