My husband gifted me with a 17 year old spruce he planted in the swamp. I found this Japanese red maple. Both are in terra cotta pots and in my three season room. What is my next step?

Wait to see whether they survive.

You do know there it a specific time to do certain things? Next time, leave them in place till the right time to dig up.

To be honest.. I think the spruce is not as old as you think.
