Hi
I have had my bonsai for about a year now. I was considering repotting it or trying to tidy up the root structure, as you can see the big roots are surrounded by soil that doesn't really soak up moisture anymore. Any advice on how to give it a tidy up? If i clear soil will it loose support?

If it were mine, I would tie some metal wire high on those roots, and then pot it in a large container. Let it grow outside for a year or two and you should have roots higher up, so you can trim off the stelts.

Would you remove the clump of soil between the roots before doing so?

Well, I just like this exposed roots style verry much, so I would take the clump off and would clean the thick roots.
I thought it was a rock, by the way (root over rock style).
