Japanese Maple I need some suggestions or help was created by Brent S.

I am new to raising bonsai. I recently bought a Japanese Maple from a nursery near me and made the mistake of putting it in a new pot and trimming some of its roots. Its been a couple of weeks and the leaves are looking scotched and a couple have fallen off. I am keeping it out of direct sun light and watering it. I have not been soaking the pot in water. I have been misting the leaves once a day. Dose anyone have any advice what I can do to help my tree? I live in Northern Utah USA we are starting in to our summer.

You should not have re potted at this time of year, once in leaf it is too late to do. Without seeing the tree it is difficult to comment further. The leaves are dropping as a result of root pruning, they are not scorched. I would say keep doing what you are doing and hope it recovers. Do not add any fertiliser until and unless it starts to produce new buds. This may take a month or more, so do not be impatient.
