Hi this is my first bonsai which I have grown from seed it is a whisteria tree.
So here are my questions.
I have what looks like a healthy tree to me however lower down on the bonsai tree there is a branch with weaker deformed leaves should I leave the branch/leaves on the bonsai?
I have attached images to this post.
Second question
I have been having issues with the main root exiting the bottom of the pot trough one of the drainage holes, so I have repotted the bonsai into a bigger one litre pot a few weeks later and he has popped out of a drainage whole again. Any advice on what to do?
I am watering the bonsai from the top as I am using bio gold I get a small amount of water running out of the pot onto the plate underneath the pot which I think the root maybe attracted to.
Many
Thanks

hello, welcome.
I am very sorry, but this is not a bonsai yet. It's a sapling.
Wisterias can take up to 10 years in pots before the first bloom, that's why people use cuttings or airliners from matrix trees.
You can prune the weird branch if it is not so important for the design.
You can leave the escaping roots as they are, no problems at all. Next year when you repot it again, you can prune them before taking the wisteria out of its pot.

on top of what clio said.. The lowe rbranch is actually just a leaf. Wisteria has leaves consisting f multiple leaflets. You only have a stem now, no branches yet. So do not be alarmed if a leaf comes off.
Put it outside. It will not live long inside
As it is outside anyway, consider putting it in the ground to get some growth on it

Thank you guys, I just got schooled but information taken on board
My sapling now has a new home in the garden and the stem with deformed leaflets has been pruned.
I knew it could take over 10 years to flower I am hoping it will eventually as my two year old daughter helped me germinate the seeds maybe one day she will come running to me saying dad its starting to flower.
