Hello all. My name is Hue and I am new to the forum. I am on here to request the help of this knowledgeable group of individuals.
I have several trees in my yard that needs some care. I would like to first focus on what I believe to be a juniper. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I attached several pictures that show the tree before and after I added some pet moss, fertilized and cleaned up the dead pines.
There are also pictures that show how bare the interior of the tree is. The pines on the end of each branch is weighing them down.
How can I get buds to start growing along the branches. I would like on day to turn this into a bonsai.
I consider myself new to the art and would appreciate any wisdom that you all can bestow upon me.
Thanks

I would not do that, at least not any time soon. I think this is a beautiful tree, the way it is now. You've done good cleaning it up and removing dead needles. Junipers do not backbud easily - you will not get (lots of) buds along the bare branches any time soon. It can happen, I guess, but if it happens, it's going to take very, very long. So, enjoy it as, leave it be, observe it and see what happens. You can prune back shoots that get too long, but do leave foliage on the branches. Do not prune too much, let new buds grow. Seems there are still some bare branches, you can remove them.

Leave them for the moment. I agree this is a good tree, I love its trunk and it seems it had some good ramification in the past.
Yes, could be a great bonsai when shortened; yes, it is really difficult to make them backed, but it is possible.

I appreciate the compliments on the tree from you all.
How long do you think I should let the tree rest?
Should I wait till next spring?
