Hi.
I dug up a beech in early spring. The tree sprouted new green leaves a month later.
Now the leaves has turned color to red/brown and are dropping.
What is wrong and what can i do?
Some people say that i should cover the tree in a black plastic bag.
Thank you.

Beech are iffy in my experience. This is a sign the roots cannot cope with the water demand of the leaves.
I would keep it out of the wind, out of direct sun and put it in a bright, sheltered spot.

That sounds very possible. The tree didn't had that much small roots, only some big roots, when I dug it up.
If the roots can't cope with the water demand of the leaves, will it then help if I prune back the branches?
Will you recommend cover the tree with a plastic bag? Then the soil will be kept warm and moist and perhaps help the roots??
Thank you.
