Hello,
I recently acquired a juniper (juniperus Sabina I believe), from someone I met at a local bonsai nursery open day, I've had the tree for around 6 weeks and it's been kept in a spot in my garden with plenty of sunlight. The tree gets watered every couple of days when I notice it's just starting to dry out. Over the last few weeks I've noticed that the tips of the needles have taken on a bright green, almost yellow colour. Is this just new growth that has yet to harden or is my tree Ill or deficient in nutrients. I've fed the tree with a slow release fertiliser once two weeks ago but I've not noticed any difference in the tree as of yet. Any advise or tips on what is causing the tree to have these yellow tips would be massive appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, that's what I was hoping but I've never kept a juniper before and just wanted to be sure.

Do you have an update on the yellowing needles? Did they spontaneously green up as they hardened? It could be a nutritional deficiency in K or Mg. I've seen this before with a kishu shimpaku in soil tested to have too much K. Too much K lowers available Mg. I managed it by switching to low-K fertilizer and treating with epsom salts.
