Hello! I am new to the bonsai community and I love my little tree! I am no expwet but he has been doing well since I for him. I have searched all over the internet to figure out out what type he is but I just can’t seem to determine what he is! Can anybody help with this?
Secondly, in the past couple of weeks i have noticed some leaves towards the bottom and inner tree are turning yellow, and then drying and falling. He's still seems healthy and new leaves appear very green from the top and bottom but this yellowing worries me. I have also seen a strange clay like substance at his root. Anybody know what this could mean and how I can save him?
Regards,

Hi,
your tree is a Buxus Harlandii (a variety of Boxwood)… a few yellowing leaves here and there are normal but you should try to wire the branches and open them to let some sunlight into the inner part as well.
Also, the tree should be put outside if it's not freezing cold where you live.
