How to encourage a Jacaranda to sprout from lower on the trunk? was created by Zenzero

These are the plants in question they've been in 50 cm pots for 10 years at least.
To start them in the direction of becoming something like a 名媛直播, I'd like to reduce their height, but I am scared to just chop off the trunks since all the new growth occurs at the tip.
Is there something I can do this growing season to encourage them to sprout from lower on the trunk?
Thanks

It depends on your weather.
In the tropics one can chop it down and get away with it, specially with the help of the "humidity tent" ?Leatherback.
It works.

Thanks Clicio! You have given me some ideas.
You say it depends on the weather, in summer here it is hotter than the tropics - <35°C from the end of June to the beginning of September. In winter it can get to -1 or -2°C on some nights. 2 winters ago it got to -6°C and stayed cold like that for 3 or 4 days, that's what killed our Ficus Benjamina.
My plan for the short term is to keep the Jacarandas well fed during the summer, then around December chop them back and wait until spring to see what happens.
I like the idea of the humidity tent

Ah, Stephen I see.
Greece or Italy, probably. Yes, humidity tents help a lot, try and let us know the results!
