Received this in the mail today. The maple trunk is at an abnormal angle. Can it be worked with?

I should note that I understand there should be a slight bend. But shouldn't it be more s like rather than a direct angle?

Concerning movement, I find the trunks very nice, and would be disappointed to see any "S" shapes that would immediately make your trees look like mallsai.

This is good to know. I have also been told it will smooth out as it gets bigger. I guess my next step is finding the front. Would you wire branches and trim at this point or let grow?

Thanks!

If you have just received this, and you are presumably new to bonsai? I would wait and for the time being focus on keeping it happy and healthy. Wiring and trimming is the next step, once you kno wyou can care for the plant in a way that it stays healthy

Thank you. I will take this advice. After getting home this morning the bend is not nearly as bad as the picture my wife sent. I was a bit worried but upon seeing it I am happy with it.

Thanks
