Hi community... I'm glad to be here and this it's my first time looking your help.
2 weeks ago I changed soil for my bonsai. I used full akadama with lava rocks. I did that as soon I noticed gems start to open.
Now all leaves are almost out but they looks like not healthy. They don't have a full green colour and it looks like they don't have the power to stay up.
Weather wasn't also on my side. We had high temperature for spring which boosted the foliage but just after that it was cold again as winter time.
Can you advice if this is an issue and if so what can I do to help?
Thank you!

How does the tree look compared to last year? Wat is dark green when it started growing last year?
To me, this looks perfectly fine. Except for the dead stump in the top that is.

Your tree looks fine. Acer,s are temperamental fellows. The leaves will come upright just do not over water at this time. Lightly fertilize once all the buds have opened and keep the tree out of full sun. Dappled sun will do. Watch acidity of the soil also.

thanks for the moral support indeed it looks fine now after few days!
since you trigger me some new questions.. i hope they are not dumb one
do you have any suggestion how to develop back that top?
i hope to use that branch on the left side.. but anything i can do for the right side?
i see the suggestion to don't over water..
considering it's all about the soil mixture and the draining ability... the site here suggest to water daily but i find elsewhere even less..
what's your advice based on a full akadama mix + lava rocks?
which are the first signs that acer shows in case i'm doing it wrong?
thanks so much!
