Hi,
Over the last couple of months, my bonsai which I’m guessing is a Chinese Elm, seems to be dying on me (appx 15-20yrs old and 1 metre tall). It was so luscious and green not long ago but since 2-3 months ago, the leaves seem to be drying up to the point where I can turn them into powder. The leaves are not turning yellow, just drying up and shriveling without growing back.
I live in Australia and it has been very warm lately so I put most of the blinds down in my apartment to keep the place cool and as a result, the bonsai doesn’t receive much direct sunlight (if any).
I water the soil once a day and spray the leaves every second day as I read somewhere that sometimes in warmer climates, the water nutrients doesn’t make its way to the leaves from the base?
Please advise what I can do to rescue it before it dies on me. I’m hoping this is a seasonal thing with this variety?
Thank you!

Pat, I live in Brazil, and my elms get watered at least twice a day;
if yours is outdoors, where trees belong, I guess heat and dry winds can dissect the leaves very fast, as it happens here.
But if it is indoors, then we have a problem.
It NEEDS light, airflow, water and rain. It should be outside all the time.
