What to do with this tree?

Hi.
I dont like the side branches on this tree, formed as fishbones. I want to make new ramification and foliage pads. But how? As I see there are two options:
1: Cut all the sidebranches and make foliage pads with the new branches(Yellow color, picture)?
2: Cut all the sidebranches back, (Red color, picture)?
My goal is to make a new ramification, new foliage pads and not fishbone branches. But how? Thank you.

Yes, its full of buds. The picture was taken two month ago.
What would people do. Option 1 or 2?
Thank you.

I know. Both option 1 and 2 would not help you get rid of the lack of tapering, the symmetrical S-shape and the ugly long straight part at the top.

I agree, I have considered air layering in the future.
But I seek advices on what to do with the tree, as the topic says. And you have now made two post on the subject, without any usable advices.
Perhaps anybody else have any advices?

You do have a point, but telling you what not to do is an advice too.
Thing is that this is the same S-shaped mallsai, a copy of so many others that have already been discussed and given advice for on this forum.
There's even a sort of competition going on (with not so many posts, as it 's a process of years, so we won't see that many updates) on how to try and turn trees like this into something better. It's interesting to read the different approaches people take. I'm just doing the standard stuff, LB tries something more interesting and probably more challenging.
I don't really like to repeat advice that has been given so often. Look up some posts, you'll find the answers. Personally, I'd let this grow, get very strong and healthy, then think about what to do. There's no rush.

If you know it is healthy and strong, remove all branches. Then wire the new branches to represent a natural tree. Trees do not do foliage pads.
