I just purchased my first juniper bonsai off the web and it showed up in a rather nasty shape,as you can see the folliage is yellow and dried out,Is the tree dead already or is it worth hanging on to?any suggestions?

Unfortunately it looks dead.
Try to get a refund or another juniper from the vendor.
Good luck !

I cannot tell from your picture whether the foliage is unhealthy or not, and would not like to jump to conclusiosn here.

Indeed. This time it was me who used his phone, but on my computer screen I can see indeed it may not dead yet. It's doomed though. And still not a bonsai, or useful for bonsai.
