Can't help you with the issue. Never heard of "campache".
All I can say is: give it time to adjust to its new environment. Don't fertilize. Why use distilled water? It's no longer distilled water as soon as it touches the soil.

Leave it alone for some weeks, in bright shade, no fertilizer and water it properly.
Yes, you can use bottled water IF your tap water is really hard/lime loaded, but rain water is better.
Keep us updated on its progress.

The spelling is not the problem, it is just me not knowing the species.

The Speeding Sloth wrote: Quick update: still no leaves the branches seam a bit brittle but they look green under the bark I've been tempted to nick a root and possibly the truck to see if its green. Is this recommended or should I give it more time before I try nicking it?
Give it time. Undestand that doing a scratch test doesn't prove anything - except that it's maybe not dead yet. It does give some damage. Not much, but it's not needed. Do not mess with the roots. Give the tree time. Wouldd be a waste... I do like the base of this one.
Look at the branches/trunk. Are they shriveling up? That would be a sign the tree is dying.
