Hi,

I have some Elms and a few tropical trees that need to be repottet this spring. I don't have much time to do it later this year. Is it possible to do it now or should I wait?

I live in northern Europe. We have had a very mild winter. There are many of the buds on my trees that are swell. I can see from the weather forecast that there will also be no frost for the next 14 days. We have between 4-13 celsius a day and between 1-7 celsius at night.

There are many in my club who have started to repot. But what do you think? I do not want to stress the tree if frost comes later.

Cheers.

You could repot now. In fact, i repot whenever i feel like it. Just remember that het more rooteork you do, the bigger the risk of winter repotting. Afterwards, protect from hard frosts and try to keep on the dry side.

I keep the trees in large containers.
