Hi all,
So I have an olive tree my mum bought me, really like the tree and its about 10 years old. looks like its had a very large (2") branch removed to form the bonsai but it has been removed poorly. Id like to try and work out a way to incorporate into the design, maybe as deadwood or clean up and encourage the trunk to heal better round it.

any suggestions as its not left me a lot to work with?

Could it be a graft?

Looks grafted, in time it should even out. I would not try to change it, just grow it on for a few years. I quite like the way it is and I would leave it as it is.

Olives do not close cuts as readily as some other trees. So i would clean the dead bark, and use it as part of the tree. Perhaps with some tools you can shape the cut.more naturally. Over time the area will weather and look better fitting.
