My poor friend has a bit of a black thumb. She forgot to water her plant for 5 days and all its leaves are falling off. She gave it to me to try and save it, but upon further investigation I think it’s dead. One of the pictures shows where I scraped the bark off the trunk. Can anybody confirm?

You can't leave a plant for that long and expect it to live. I would say it is dead. You could water it and leave it for a while, but I doubt it is alive.

Looks pretty dead to me.
But... Miracles can happen.

Under perfect conditions, maybe. I'd say this one is lost.
