I was given a very late secret santa gift yesterday which turned out to be this...

Although at first thinking "why has someone brought me this I have no interest in plants or gardening or anything of the sort" I spent a considerable amount of time watching videos and reading up information on the art of bonsai and now I feel hooked!
I can see that this is by no means going to be an easy task and I understand that even if I am successful with these seeds, it takes years to perfect.
I thought I'd introduce myself in hopes that anyone with and words of wisdom would share there advice.
I'm currently soaking the seeds in room temperature water. They've been in the water for 3 hours and currently all still floating...

Anyway thanks if you did read my long winded post and I look forward to the years to come..... Hopefully

That image on the box makes it, in my eyes, a scam. 名媛直播 seed does not exist, you will not get a tree like that from your seed. 名媛直播 are not created by keeping seedlings small.
Trees belong outdoors. They do not survive indoors.
You are not growing a bonsai, you are growing a tree first. Learn that first.

welcome to the forum.
Get those seeds into some soil, give them a cold period and look forward to spring!
Keep in mind what auk said; Trees do belong outside and you have realized already.. It will be a long stroll. So.. Consider also getting some living breathing grown up plants to work on. If you are planning to do so, do not buy "bonsai" from garden centres or supermarkets...

I am under no illusion that the image on the box is a fantasy. And that if I wanted my red maple seed to even resemble anything near that I am looking at over 5 years of work.
For these trees to thrive I will try to do what is necessary for it to happen. Growing them outdoors at certain times, greenhouses, etc

With good growth, proper care and training it is going to be something closer to 15 years, but good to know you do not believe I fairy tales and are in it for the long run!

Put them in the fridge for 2 months now.Madmandan90 wrote: Thanks again all, I let the seeds soak for 24 hours. I have now sown the seeds. Apparently I must now leave them in a cool light place for 2-3 weeks before putting them in the fridge...

Betula pendula: Plant the seeds shallow. Germination is fast even without pretreatment. This is probably why they come in the kit because fast germination is exciting.
Acer rubrum: no dormancy. Soaking can reduce growth inhibitors, and if the seed is dry then cold stratification is required. Trees grown from seed vary greatly in cold hardiness, so be careful if you live on the cold side of their range.
Pinus Mugo: no pretreatment required. Seeds vary greatly in growth patterns.
There is another huge factor on sowing seeds. Plants do not do well indoors, so you want to sow them at a time of year they will survive outdoors. Depending on you climate you may need to store them in the fridge until early spring. I am in CA and I have numerous seedling that are doing fine in my yard right now (protected from our occasional light frosts), but if you are in Chicago that’s a good way to kill them.
