Can anyone help identify this 名媛直播 Tree please? was created by 3Tyger

Hi,
I've just joined this forum as i've been given a bonsai tree as a gift - basically I've never had a bonsai tree before, but I love trees generally and i'd really like to keep it alive and healthy!
So here are the main things I need help with right now;
1. This tree came from a supermarket here in the UK and it doesn't say on the label what type of tree it is. I've attached a few photos for help trying to identify it as I'm sure they all have different needs so I will have to know what tree it actually is.
2. The earth this tree is in was almost completely dry. So i've watered it by immersing the pot in water for 15mins hoping it will drink what it needs and then I'll water it like this daily if it is still dry - is that the best way to water it?
3. The label on this plant just said it was an 'indoor bonsai' but will this tree really be happy indoors? I'd like to keep it inside if it will be happy, but I do have a garden and don't mind finding it somewhere out there if it will be happier (i'm not 100% relying on that supermarket label if it can't even tell me the most basic information to look after it).
I think these are the main things I need to know to hopefully keep this tree going. I'd really appreciate your advice, as all I'm really used to growing is African violets, geraniums, and a few leafy greens and vegs for my guinea pigs, so I have LOTS of learning to do. Thanks in advance for your support.

What you have is a chinese elm.

Because it was dry, it might not have been the worst idea to dunk it in water, but I wouldn't let it get that dry again... water when the soil starts to dry out, but water normally. you can test how wet the soil is under the surface with a wooden chopstick. How often you water and how much you water depends on the soil mix. If it is in regular potting soil, watering will be less often and lessvolume than if it is in typical bonsai soil.
Trees generally speaking are not "indoor" plants. Tropical plants can survive indoors if they get a lot of light. If you have place where you get lots of sun inside, I would keep it there and wait for spring... after you are sure you won't have frost, you can put the tree outside.. I think you'll find the growth it gets in an outdoor sunny spot will be better than inside. You don't want to put out in the winter. If it is in normal potting soil, and you do end up putting it outside, you may want to consider repotting in a more bonsai typical soil mixture... This will help with watering. You can find a lot of posts here on the forum about soil mixes.
As far as learning, you could have a look at the courses here on bonsai empire. The basic course helped me a lot with repotting, for example.

You need to take it out of that white pot, and when next you water do not dunk it for 15. Far too long, I would water from the top anyway. It is mild at the moment so the plant should be outside not in. Put it in a sheltered spot if you can

Thank you so much for identifying the tree for me. At the moment it's in a room where it gets lots of sunlight during the day. We had snow here last week and its still quite frosty some mornings so I think I will keep it indoors until it warms up in Spring, then I will move it outside. I'm not sure its in the right soil at the moment but I'll check it every day to make sure it gets enough water and i'll repot it into better soil before I move it outside. Thanks again for your help, I'm sure my tree will appreciate it
