In summer, wisteria can easily sit in a shallow tray of water, and have access to water 22+ hrs a day, allowing the plant to drain every other day.

It's happening right now here in Brazil.
Soaking wet all day, and happily growing like mad!

This time of year, here, it would not be good. When it is hot, sure, but until June or so I don't think it wants to be in constant water.

Last year, June to September I sat it in water like this, but the ants were in March and April.
