Keep your maple in half shade. If you keep your maple in full sun, then the sun can burn the leaves.
I use
Akadama mixed with Pumice 50%
Kanuma 10%
Fuji sand as top dressing 10%
Pine bark 30%
But less will do.
Every maple needs different ramification. Find inspiration and information how to make ramification in books, on YouTube go to bonsai clubs, workshops and shows.
Then you will know how to make ramification.
