Hi Dears,
My name is Reza from Iran. However, I registered in several years ago but today is the time to start bonsai and this is my first question and hope to get you guys help and guides.

first of all, I had to clarify that as you may know from Iran we don't have access to global payment gates such as Mastercard, Visa Card, even Paypal because of US sanctions against Iran even buying books and tutorials from Iran is very very hard. I could buy only 2 books about koi keeping for our koi keeping society by peoples that we could find them on facebook they bought and took the books to Iran when they come from the US in Obama's presidential period (not in Trump).

So what we have access over the internet as the knowledge resources are the shared videos over youtube and websites, not paid tutorial packages and books. What I see in most videos on youtube is ready to make bonsai trees with 10 to even 100 years old trees.

Lately, I find that these trees in some cases where inported e.g from east asia countries or they grow from seed.
the seed to grow up and become a 25 yeas old for a person who is in 38 is maybe so long with less hope to achieve this goal, therefore finding trees from wild nature is another good but so hard way. Because of the government care about the wild nature trees and cutting or removing them have big penalties forehead.

Rooting the hardwoods (over several years old) may be the best and fastest way but I couldn't find much more information and techniques about how to rooting, for example, 10 years old branches to increase the success percentage without damaging branch and tree.

Selecting branch and tree also and proper styling is another step.

I will be appreciated if you guys could help me.

Regards

hi, and welcome!

I realize the ituation you are in. Luckely, a lot of information is online nowadays, and you do not really need books anymore for information!

Have a look at air layering, which is what you are after, I think:

I am so appreciated about your kindness and guide. In another hand, I think deciding the proper style for trees and branches is the most important thing that had to be done before layering the branch or even selecting the tree.

This is the other question that I don't really know how to do that. how to analyze the tree's proper style and trimming.

When you are looking for new bonsai tree material. You need to use your imagination. Has the tree potential to become a bonsai.
Use this guide to see if the potential tree can become a bonsai www.bonsaiempire.com/origin/bonsai-styles
When you have found good potential material you can search the internet and this site/forum how to style and trim the species to become a bonsai and also the rules for it to be a bonsai tree.

I don't think the problem is what to look for in bonsai material, but where to get that material.

One important thing to consider is where you live. Are there trees that do well there? one's that have small leaves and that grow back when you cut them? i.e. backbud? if they than also grow quickly, they are fairly good starter Material.

I take these photos yesterday evening it was foggy weather after rain beside the highway. all nurseries propagating plants for common landscapes. but in some videos saw planning for bonsai or several decades and forming plans in early days I think this is 40%done by nurseries in some cases I saw (over the internet) plant is looking bonsai but just need some trimming, wiring and then poting into a proper pot.

As you can see in the center of pine trees plants are much taller than beside (competition to reach more light). they even don't know much more about the verities of pines. I find only several Platycladus and after a year a ner to drying gingko. all gingkos I saw were over 2 meters.

Nice pictures, thx for sharing.

The competition for light does not per se have to be the cause. These plants are also more sheltered, which creates a move favourable growing condition, which at this size feels more logical to me..
