Serissa bonsai with dead branches?

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum and to bonsai care.
My parents got a Serissa bonsai for me as a gift and it lived at their house for several months. My mom usually has the best of all green thumbs, but while it was there it dropped almost all of its leaves. I brought it to my apartment about 3 weeks ago, and it thankfully started some new growth about 2 weeks ago. However, the outer branches haven’t produced any new growth and I’m worried they might be dead. What should I do? Give them more time? Trim them off? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Serissa is a pretty difficult species... moving it, or even rotating the tree can cause it to lose a branch... let it grow, if you have good conditions where it is.. it should be fine. remember the if...
Some people do well with serissa, but after killing one, I'm not getting another one.

Do not leave it standing in that tray of water. Reduce watering. Check the guidelines:
