Chinese Elm looking very sorry.Help!

Hi . I've had my elmfor a year or so and over the last few weeks it's been losing leaves . There are lots of new shoots but they're not really growing...I don't think I've over watered it .... Any advice most welcome. Thanks Ian.

Firstly you have it inside when it should be out, second it is a deciduous species which loses leaves in winter. It could just be that you have it in a poor environment too hot too dull too dry, but it looks as if it has not been pruned, and it is impossible to tell if it has been watered correctly. Look under how to look after trees on this web site
