I got my Fukien tea bonsai as a gift back in August of this year (2018). A combination of my impulsivity and poor advice led me to aggressively pruning my tree about a month ago, since then it has experienced little leaf growth and those leaves that have grown and turned black and fallen off. However, I did the fingernail test and see that the tree is still green just under the bark so I am hopeful that means life is still present and therefore re-growth is still to come.

The stuff on the top of the tree is vasaline which used as cut paste.... and its hard to see from the picture but wear I've taken a close up of the scratch I made to see if it was green underneath it indeed green just not highlighted by the camera

I'm located in Waterloo Ontario Canada which means winter is beginning and temperatures are currently around 1 degrees Celsius (33 degrees Fahrenheit) and for the past few weeks and the foreseeable future its is cloudy with little sunlight. I'm in university and in a dorm room where temperatures stay consistent at around 18 degrees Celsius (65 degrees Fahrenheit) and I have a humidifier in my room that keeps humidity in my room around 60%.
