HI guys new to the forum I have acquired my brother bosai tree which looks pretty dead apparently its had no leaves for a few months and been kept outside in summer, I have it on a window ledge not which is fairly warm and gets some light.
I have attached photos here , firstly does anyone know what type of tree it is and weather it can be saved?
Thanks

It doesn't matter anymore. It's a dead plant.

Strip the trunk bark lightly by fingernail or cutter if you see any green there is hope. No green no hope.
Also try to bend the branch it will be pliable if there is life inside. Dead branch usually brittle and snapped easily.
However not all species can be identified this way. This was the advice I got for my dying variegated Madras Thorn.
Hope this help.
For the plant ID, I couldn't help. Sorry.

My dying plant sprouted a set of leaves near trunk base. I repotted this plant from polybag, immediately put fertilizer, bad soil and over watering. About one week later it lose all the leaves. Please log in or register to see it.

Blackwood, I was not referring to your post
The original tree posted is a goner. The bark is peeling off. The reddish shine to the bark indicated as a probably cause, overheating / sunburn
