Chinese pepper (Xanthoxylum piperitum) Help! was created by AdamMori

After saying that I would like to get a 名媛直播 for some time my girlfriend bought me a Chinese pepper (Xanthoxylum piperitum) tree and I have been thrown in the deep end!
I have found the page on the site about them but was hoping for some more advice - I have been watering only when the soil seems dryish but I now have a lot of very small flies about the tree (on stems and leaves) - have I been over watering? I am also looking at repotting the plant (it is on a plate currently with water on for humidity as I cannot find a tray that fits my current pot) in a pot and tray that match - where is best to get soil for the plant? Also, should I be trimming it as there seems to be a lot of new growth since I got the tree a few weeks back. Thanks in advance!

That's Sevin dust. Contains Carbaryl.
"Carbaryl is an obsolete carbamate insecticide that is not approved for use in the EU"
:
"carbaryl is illegal in several countries, including the United Kingdom, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Iran, Germany, and Angola.[6] "

I forgot:
It's a Xanthoxylum so it is probably kept indoors. Indoor use of Sevin isn't allowed either.
