Possibly too much water?

Hoping somebody might have some insight here.
These pictures were taken 6 days apart from each other. There did appear to be some browning on one of the leaves and you can see some bright spots which didn't really look like anything on the underside of the leaf.
Fast forward to picture 2 and the tree appears to be dying.
We have had some violent rain here the past 2 weeks so I'm wondering could be the issue. Currently the soil is definitely more wet than it should be, the rain just doesn't stop. Should I take my trees inside in times when they do not need water and it is still raining? Maybe take them in at night if it is raining? or even during the day??
I do know there are some tiny tiny bugs in the soil, roughly the 1st inch or so. I don't notice them down lower. They don't look like root mites to me and don't seem to be getting much bigger. Hoping they are beneficial.
Most of the soil is new from the bag (not baked) from Home Depot and I had a very small amount of miracle gro potting mix that I put on the maybe inch-half inch or so, had it laying around and wanted to get rid of the bag. Wondering if that was a mistake.
Thanks in advance!

Are they indeed tree species? Or herbs that are dying because winter is coming?
I would be tempted to say it is because your pot is way to big.

Well, I'm absolutely no expert but there are tons of maples around my house and these guys are all over the place. I'm sure it's a maple, I have another which seems to be doing alright in a pot the same size with the same soil. These things would lead me to believe the tiny bugs I'm seeing are affecting the tree negatively but I see them in the soil in my other maple and both of my willows so I'm not sure that makes sense, unless they all start dying.
It has been getting chilly here but I don't think that should matter for these guys too much, not even close to a frost yet. I know the rain actually battered pretty much all the flowers in my area, the county hasn't that much rain in like 10 years or something like that.
Last week we got more than 5 inches of rain in 1 day, I probably should have taken all my trees inside at that point.
