Juniper question was created by MiguelMC

Hello everyone
I probably have a quite stupid question, if you were able to point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate.
I have a Juniper tree but the leaf growth is occurring mainly at the end of the branches, is there a way/ Technic that would allow me to promote the growth along the branches instead of just towards the end? the reason I would like to see this growth is mainly because this makes the branch feel a bit bare, and I would like to go for a more puffier look.
I can post pictures of the tree tomorrow so that you guys can you give me some opinion and maybe some direction guidelines.

Again thank you very much

Hello everyone
Hope you guys are enjoying your weekend so far.
I was finally able to take some photos of the juniper tree.
Since I'm still new at this I would like some help on this matter. as you can see the tree looks quite bare and I've been trying to induce some back budding on it and so far I've been somewhat successful. do you guys have any tips on how to improve this tree?
BTW I'm not a the best photographer so the photos are a bit shady.

thank you very much for any input

You need to let the tree grow. Get strong. Allow the branches to grow thick with green. Then trim bak once you get long runners. That will induce backbudding. And even though the branches need to grow, you need to wire the tree open, so that you get sun inside the tree.

Right now, you have a tree with a serious risk of dying because it has so little foliage.

so what you are saying is to avoid pruning for a year or so? the branches feel quite spread out already you think I should wire them in a way that makes them in a more horizontal way?

put it back outside in the full sun. Let it grow very bushy. Only when you get 10cm runners can you think about anything but fertilizer, water and sun, and perhaps a guy wire to pull a branch down to get sun inside. But for now you do not even have to worry about that.

and just one more question being a juniper will it keep growing during the winter or will it go back to a dormant state like some of the other trees?
thank you for the help, i really appreciate it

yeah, when it gets below 10c, organic fertilizer stops to be effective AND roots reduce their activity. I normally stop fertilizer around nowish, till I see the first growth in spring.

Juniper grow as long as they are not froze solid, but much much much -did I say MUCH- slower. So just keep it outside in the sure. It will slowly gain more energy and in spring explode with new shoots

thank you very much leatherback, You have been helping me quite a lot with this tree. Even though the tree was a bit bare I never thought it wasn't that bad, but thanks to your input i think she will finally became truly healthy and grow into a strong tree.
Being outside can be a bit a challenging ,even though i have a balcony with a small greenhouse the balcony is facing east and there isn't much direct sunlight there, also at the moment on the balcony I don't have a place to put the tree other than the floor, can I keep it in the green house or will it became too hot/humid for it? with this weather the greenhouse never get particularly hot or humid just a few degrees above the regular street temp, I can also keep the door open to cool it down, but the sun light will always go trough the glass and may be slightly dimmed because of it.
