Sorry, I fell victim to a common American vice.
But as for the sphagnum moss, it doesn't really have anything more or less than regular soil, except, like Leslie said, it can hold more water. So during rooting, if it benefits the plant for the soil to be wetter, then it has a slight edge. Other than that, it's slightly acidic. That's about all.
I have used it, and I was able to get my willow to root in it, but it rooted a whole lot faster when I just stuck the end in a bucket of water. Take that as you will.
