Brown needles on JWP

Hello, it is mid spring in the uk and we have had a really wet one. My JWP has an even spread of brown needles and the candles have yet to extend. Could this be that it is overwatered? It was brought from a garden centre last spring and is not in what I would consider good soil. I am planning on repotting next year but is there anything I can do in the meantime?

I am very sorry, but your tree looks very dead to me.

Not completely yet, but indeed, definately on its way out.
If it were mine, I'd probably get it out of full sun, keep it dry-ish and do nothing but wait. You never know (untill all needles are brown).

Thank you. I’ve taken it out of it’s pot, raked out about one inch of soil and I’m going to leave it to dry out a little. (It was saturated) I can see a few white root tips so fingers crossed

White Pines do not like being wet. I would remove as much of the dead needles as possible, then leave it for this year just keeping it quite dry, and next winter under open cover only to keep the rain off, not frost.
