Hello,
I have an indoor bonsai I got from the local bonsai grower. I have gone to her for help but I feel like there might be a bigger problem with my bonsai. My friend got the exact same bonsai and theirs was doing the outlined problem below for the first few weeks but seems fine now.
I was told it’s called a ficus retusa. I got it about a month and a half ago. At the beginning it wasn’t getting enough sunlight. I now have a grow light that I have on it in the morning for a few hours and then it gets 3 hours of sunlight in the evening. My problem is since the beginning leaves keep turning yellow and spotted. A few fall every day. Sometimes I take them off before they fall and they pretty much just fall off in my hand. It has a lot of new growth, bugs and tiny leaves. But bigger leaves keep spotting and falling off.
I was wondering if anyon else has run into this problem and would know how to help? I am on the newer side to caring for a bonsai but it’s not my first one. I got a ‘bonsai’ from the grocery store and it’s doing great. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thank you! I will try watering it less. I am having a hard time telling when it’s time to water it.
I will keep an eye out for pests but I don’t think it’s those. I’ve seen them on a bonsai I had years and years ago but haven’t seen any yet on this one.
