Hi all, I have an old Japanese black pine and the inside needles have turned yellow across most of the tree over the last week. I trimmed 2 branches and pulled a few needles a week ago so this has occurred since then; my local bonsai shop owner/expert has advised it looks fine and just part of the natural ageing process.
I have recently moved so the tree was in a shadier spot previously but now receives alot more full sun over last month (which is better I thought for black pines), have been watering the same so no other major changes other than more full sun now and recent prune.
I am keeping an eye on it and hoping all ok but any advice would be appreciated!
I am in Melbourne, Australia so it is Autumn here now.
Thanks in advance.

I live in Brazil, and it's autumn here also; but my Black Pines are not showing any yellowing on its needles.
Yours, even with those yellow needles, looks fine.

It IS normal for pines to drop needles. As plants age, so does the internall part of foliage. At some pint the tree drops it because of age, and or shading of the needles. So as long as these are older needles, and not the needles at the end of the branch (So the needles that grow this or last year) you are fine.
Nicole from Melbourne.. You are not my niece are you? Any relatives in Germany who recently visited?
