Drying after repotting

I recently repotted my ficus bonsai. It was growing and there were lots of leaf shoots seen before repotting. When I repotted, I changed the soil, I added fertilizer and I usually water with rain water. But strangley all the leaves have dropped and the green shoots have dried after repotting. Now my ficus has started developing some white patches. I did see some small white ant like insects on the soil. Is there anything that can be done to make my ficus grow again?. It has been this way for more than 3 weeks. Any advice would be of great help. I have attached the pictures too. Thanks in advance .

It's a goner...
What substrate is this, it doesn't look like anything good for small trees in pots.

Hmm... well, another disappointment may be that this was not a bonsai.
