Hello! New here to the forumn. Recently purchased my first juniper bonsai, and was wondering if I could get some insight.
I'm in Canada, so the temp right now is on average -5C and off and on snowing. I was worried that putting it outside fresh from the warm greenhouse would cause some form of shock, so for now it's by the window - which I try to keep open as much as possible to simulate it being outdoors (? I tried lol).
So I'm wondering at what point should I put it outdoors, or is my method okay? And if you put it outdoors, is there any type of weather that you should bring in indoors?
I'm also wondering about the little pinecone type tips on the tree - they've opened up and have become light green. Is this normal?
**I've tried uploading a picture for referance at 1.44 MB png file extension - it will not accept it.

Kaye 14;
Junipers should be outside all the time.
I think now that the buds are already opening is OK to take it outside; the only real problem is frost.
If they are kept inside for some time, they usually die.

Thanks for the reply! I wasn't sure if taking it straight from the warm greenhouse to snowstorms outside was a good move lol. Also didn't know what the needles opening up were called (quick search online didn't yield much info lol). We have another snowstorm coming in a few days, I may wait for that one to be over with before tossing it out in the cold lol. Do you usually wrap it up/spray it with pesticide or anything right away?

As long as you have frost, you should not move the juniper outside. Although Junipers can withstand very low temperatures, this is for trees that havegrown accustomed to it through fall cooling. Best to keep it in a very cool room. Hope for spring.

Thanks! This is what I was worried about. I've read up on it needing to be outside etc (woild be nice if the greenhouse told people this, right? Lol), but I was worried to do the swap in such drastic conditions.
Do you know what it means for the tips to be opening up/becoming light green? It all looks very healthy, no dry/yellow/brown spots.
