Hi guys,
I am a newbie ariund here and in the bonsai lifestyle. I’ve got a bonsai last week and I’ve been tried to care for him using tips and tricks from this website and others. However, something is wrong and you can see it’s not happy at all.
He is placed on a windowsill where there is light but not direct sunlight. I’ve only given him water when I felt it dry and somethings water sprayed the leaves. It’s been loosing leaves continuously and making that white blanket over its pot...
Any advice on what to change?
I am desperate

How do you water this plant? Do you know the growing conditions of the place you got this?
Note that although the label may have stated this is a bonsai, in the framework of bonsai on this site, which focusses on the japanese artform of growing miniature trees, this will never qualify as a bonsai.

The pot it is standing in MUST NOT have any water in it. The mould on the surface suggests wet. This house plant is an ordinary Ficus, possibly change of habitat is the cause of the leaf dropping, but more likely cultural. I doubt there are any insects, but if there are take it back and get your money back it should not have been sold like it.

It’s not staying in water, the draining pot is empty.

Read lb's reply carefully. In the bonsai world this does not qualify as a bonsai.
