Should I cut the root/trunk off? was created by Joey_Blackwell

I got this bonsai for Christmas and I was thinking about cutting the root/trunk off the side of the main trunk because I don't really like it. Do you think it looks bad and would it hurt the plant if I cut it off?

Hm. Why the rush? First make sure it's happy in it's new home.

I don't know much about bonsai's but from research this is a ficus ginseng right? Isn't that classed as a real bonsai? But yeah good point, I'll leave it for now and make sure it's happy :)

Yes, it is a Ficus Ginseng, and no, I do not consider them real bonsai (meaning that the way this plant has been grown has not really got much to do with bonsai. Ficus Ginseng, when using the proper techniques, certainly is suitable for bonsai)

But yeah good point, I'll leave it for now and make sure it's happy :)

Good plan :)
