Thank you for taking your time, but this is a little to basic and is about cherry tree (even though prunus) and not specific prunus mume japanese flowering apricot.
I was looking for something more like this:

Like I wrote in my post, Im looking for additional information. If someone who has a japanese apricot can help me or if anyone know of good book or online site.
I do appreciate that you tried to help me its just that Im looking for specific information on flowering apricot and iv already read all of Harrys books. But of course theres no way for you to know what books and webpages iv already seen.

I have had one for two years now. Not much i can tellbthat is not common knowledge.
The are tricky with leafbuds. Inremove the first two leaves on new branches, as this stimulates branchbuds. After letting it grow, in midspring i cut back the long branches. The mume drinks a lot, when in full sun.
So far, this seems to go well.

Leatherback, do you have any experience with defoliating your prunus mume?

Nope. I do remove the first 2 or 3 leaves from a branch in spring. This encourages the formation of branches rather than flowers. Then somewhere in mid-spring I cut back to 2 leaves (5th node). The rest of the season my mume is allowed to grow.
