I don't know why you would like to cut the dead part.

You have a good material for this technique, although, I can't find a good leader close to the wound. Maybe if you choose one further from the cut, I would consider to cut back more of main trunk.

Thanks for replay.
I have read this article.
This is what im planing to do to create a taper.
My question is where to cut so i will have a new leader.
Do you think it will be possible to have a new apex if i cut like on the pic below? maybe one of the new branches (circled in yellow) there will be a new leader?

Also, doy think i need to remove all the other branches on the bottom but from one to help with growth the trunk?
Or leave all of them to grow?

Unless you are in a very hot climate, mediterenean so to speak, olive does not thicken quickly.

I think growing a new leader will take time. Also, olive does not close wounds, so you will not heal chop marks. I am afraid you would have to incorporate any cutmarks i nthe design.

Did you see my little olive that got smaller?

Yes i saw this post.
I live in israel so i have very hot climate and only two and a half months of actual winter, from mid december till the end of february.
I take this olive for a longterm project while i search for a ficus or ulmus.
I will be very happy to get some help and direction with how to go with this olive because i really love his trunk base.
