Hi all. Thanks in advance for your help.

I received this lovely bonsai froma friend in December. I keep it indoors, and it gets a lot of light from the west. It was flourishing with lots of green and I was able to cut back the leaves very sporadically.

The past couple of weeks, however, there were a lot of dead leaves on it's branches. I don't even know where to start to make things better.

is it getting too much sun? I water it about every day. Too much? Too little. Maybe I need to fertilze?

Right now, I need to identify what kind of tree it is and what next steps I can take to get her/him back to health.

Any support or help is greatly appreciated as I would really love this little guy to live. Thank you.

I thought you might have had a reply to this but as you have not I thought I had better. First this plant is not getting anywhere near enough light. Next you seem to have made no attempt to prune or maintain it in any way. As for watering how have you been watering? You need right now to remove all the dead leeaves, then prune away any dead shoots. Then place it where it gets SUNLIGHT all day preferably but as long as possible. Next water, whent the soil is almost dry then water thoroughly and then check every day and water again when almost dry. It is a Serrisa. Not easy to keep alive in spite of what you may be told. Summer is not a problem, it is the winter that is difficult. Buy a book on keeping tender plants, or so called indoor bonsai . There are several.

THANK YOU. it's actually getting a TON of light. Like, I thought it might be getting too much so i brought it in, but i'll put it back out.

I will remove ALL dead leaves, dead shoots and put back in light....continue to watering as suggested

What you may think is a lot of light may not be right for the plant. It looks a bit better, still a lot of trigs and bits that need removing, crossing twigs etc.

i got the plant last december - - since then it's mostly been fine, and the light is bright. I'll ask a ocuple of friends who know my space and know something about bonsai..I'll go back in and get rid of trigs and bits. I left most that had at leas a little bit of green on it. Ordered book. So i'll loearn more too. thank you!
