Hi all, I got given my first bonsai yesterday for my birthday from a family member. Could someone please help me identify it?
I believe it could be a yew possibly. I am also concerned it is looking a little wilted so I would like to read up fully on proper care for it once identified.
Many thanks and looking forward to seeing my first tree develop through the years

Thank you so much for your quick reply Auk , it is very much appreciated.
I'm guessing as this is a deciduous tree the yellowing of the leaves is normal now it is going to its dormant stage. I was beginning to worry this might be wilting. I've now got the pot sat in a humidity tray.
Should I hold off any trimming till the spring and just work on keeping the tree happy and alive?

Why? These trays are of no use outdoors.

Yep.

Ah I currently have it in my front room in a south facing window, I'm guessing it should only be kept outdoors

This must be outside you will kill it if you keep it inside. It also particularly in summer needs a lot of water, I stand mine in water all summer.
