Please help me to identify and care for new bonsai was created by Edd

Hello all!
So I got this cool looking bonsai for my birthday (10 days ago), I'm not sure what is it, but my guess (by searching online) is that of a sweet plum. In the first couple of days I left it in a fresh division near a window facing east with indirect sunlight and I watered the bonsai 1 or 2 times per day, but maybe to softly because after 10m it would be dry again.. on the third day I notice the leaves had started to curl a bit, so I though the sun was not enough.. then I moved it to a harmer room, to a window with much more direct afternoon sun, facing west, I leave it there for two days and kept on watering everytime the soil looked dry.. The condition of the leaves didn't improve, so for two days now the tree as been on the same window facing west but now with the curtain closed, so it gets indirect sunlight and now I'm watering it much more and making sure all the soil gets wet (cause I noticed the roots were pretty dry..)
The little tree doesn't look to good and I'm afraid it will die.. can you please help me to identify this tree and learn how to take care of it?
Thank you in advance!
TLDR: please help me indentify this bonsai and take proper care of it cause now it's not looking to good.

You have probably killed it in record time. Watering is an art and needs to be learned. You must not water to a schedule, water when needed, that is the soil is almost dry then water well not dribbles.

Looking at the pot/soil/roots, I'd say the killing process already started in the garden center.

What do you see in those? Because when I first received the bonsai I though it was really strange to have that many small roots coming out of the soil.
I find it strange for a tree to die in 3 days, even if I was not watering properly (although I gave it water everyday).
Do you think I should go to the garden and see if they can revive this bonsai or give me a new one?

When something is dead it is dead it cannot be brought back from the dead. Your treatment was a big factor in it dying

Thank you for explaining what is dead, the thing is it doesn't?t look dead to me yet. You say my treatment was a big factor, maybe, but I used the best of my abilities to adapt every part of the environment to (what I think to be) the needs of this bonsai, when I saw it had no water going inside the pot, I water it throughout, when it seems like it had to much light, I protect it, and vice-versa. It?s really important to me to figure out the species of this bonsai and what is happening. Can you say what kind of tree this is or not?

It looks like a ligustrum species.
The young twigs loks fresh, swollen and bright green. If this is indeed the case, then you only have lost the foliage. Considering the speed you lost it, I would guess that you bought it from a place with a greenhouse full of plants, and moced it to a sunny indoors location: The iar moisture is very different, and leaves can crsip up in a matter of hours, as the plant takes action against drying out.
IF the young twigs are succulunet/fresh green, it should come back, assuming proper care. Best of all, the leaves will have a different setup, to better deal with the dryer environment. Water well when dry. THen wait untill the soil is starting to dry out. Never let it dry our completely.

Thank you!
New twigs are indeed bright green. You are probably right about the greenhouse, although I don?t know cause it was a gift.
About the leaves, should I take out the crispy curled ones? or just let it be and wait?
How about light exposure, what do you think is the best for this species? Direct or Indirect light?
Thank you very much

I would give it light, perhaps avoid miday sun. Leave the leaves on. Once growth starts, the old leaves should start falling. Now the provide a nice sheltered environment.
