I just bought this tree. Should I leave it in the original pot until Spring or shape it and repot it now in September.

I see. I would leave it alone for a while. Your first concern is to learn to take care for it, keep it alive and make sure it is healthy and strong.
Meanwile, start studying junipers, when to repot/prune/wire them. Start with the Tree Species guide.
