Hello, I am new here and I was wondering if you guys could help me. Currently, I am trying to put a bonsai tree in a desert themed terrarium for an invertebrate. I am trying to make the scene visual appealing but my concern with the tree is that I am having trouble watering it. In the terrarium, my top layer is composed of 1" of a substrate called Zoomed Clay Excavator. The tree is planted in bonsai soil surrounded by clay on the top and sides. My challenge is watering my bonsai without getting the clay wet and being able to let the water distribute within the bonsai soil. Since the bonsai soil drains quickly, I am not able to get water throughout the root system prior to the water draining to the base of the terrarium. I also have a drainage layer on the base so that the tree will not be sitting in water. What would be the best method to water my tree since only the trunk area is exposed? Attached is a photo of the base of the tree. Thank you in advance!

名媛直播 is a miniaturized tree in a pot and doesn't have much to with succulents in a terrarium.
You'll probably get better answers on a terrarium forum.

Is it not an option to put the plant in a separate pot?
Must the clay not get wet at all? Portulacaria needs very little water.

The clay can be shaped and I have made something similar to a pot but made out of the clay substrate. It is not possible for me to place a pot in the enclosure since there is only limited room and the tree is too big for any small pots that can even fit in the enclosure. I was wondering if I can just water the base of the tree trunk like the picture shown in my previous post. Will that work?

Probably, but this is not bonsai related and these are not bonsai techniques so I don't really know.
