Too many earthworms? How to get rid of them? was created by Biafra

Lately it seems my Larch is getting worse. It was raining for many days in last month. The soil in the pot was probably too wet:/ One time about a month ago i noticed 2 earthworms trying to get out of the pot and i pulled them out. Now after a month i see alot of worm castings under the pot coming out of holes. It seems there might be too many of them and are probably clogging up the soil?

I dont think repotting larch at this time of year is a good idea:/
How can i get rid of worms?

If they are ordinary earth worms, you don't need to worry about them... if they are some other kind of worm maybe. You mentioned it getting to wet? how is it getting worse?

Thanks for response tubaboy.

The larch seems worse becouse the needles looks a little wilted (also kinda dry) since like 2 months ago. Although its not loosing needles, and they are still green.
I know earthworms are good for garden soil, but they are harmful for potted plants becouse they dont have enough space, especially when there are a lot of them.
Also if there is no more decaying plant materials present in pot the worms can start eating dead/living roots. (Links at the bottom)). So it seems like they may be really bad for the plant.
Any ideas how to get rid of them without repotting? I heard i could submerge pot in water for few minutes and they will start getting out or they suffocate.

Earthworms will do no harm to plants that are living. I am surprised that there are any in prepared compost, I certainly never find any in the compost I buy.
It is all to easy to blame something for a problem which may be nothing to do with them .
If a tree is wilting it is probably dry. You will not kill earthworms by soaking the plant but you might kill the plant, Wait until it is time to re pot and remove them then.

I have found earthworms in almost all of my plants at one time or another, and have never had any problems... with one of the links you sent there was another article link along the side:

I think the problem may have been watering... root rot is caused when the roots suffocate, because there is too much water.

To be honest.. I see no sign of wilting. Branches get droopy when they get long. The rain may have helped. But loko at the ends of the branches: They all face up, which is the opposite of drooping. I would not worry about it.

Worms are in all my pots.
