Hi guys,

My name is Nikolay, aircraft engineer and bonsai novice. I'm new to this hobby and of course I came to a point, where I need some help from you - the experts.

In terms of tree identification, I believe my tree is Honeysuckle.

Suddenly something happened to my bonsai. I've attached a picture of the leaves now, could you please help me identify the problem. I've noticed brighter green dots on all leaves and most of the leaves fell down. Could you please guide me identify and solve the problem. Now it's summer here, but last days the temperature dropped with 8-10 degrees down. now it's worming up again. The tree was feeling great, but all of a sudden it happened.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Here is the problem:

Regards,
Nick

You need to give more information, what country are you in? What spcies is it I can't tell from the picture? Where do you keep it and how do you water?
Lastly, what are we looking for on the leaves? They look fine to me.

Hi m5eaygeoff,

Thank you for your reply. As I stated in my first post I believe my bonsai tree is Honeysuckle ((Lonicera nitida / pileata).
I live in Bulgaria, 42.73 N latitude, 4 seasons every year, now it's summer.
I keep it on our balcony, well vented and sunny place.
Watering it every other day.
Lastly, the problem I'm trying to point is the bright dots on the leaves. I have my bonsai tree since March this year and all the leaves were solid green colour, no dots, no discolour, but during the last week the leaves become on dots and I'm worried that the tree is suffering from something.
Can you identify by the leaves what kind of problem I'm facing?

Regards,
Nick

It could be Lonicera. If you have had high temperatures 35-40C then I would suggest that is the problem, otherwise there is nothing wrong with them that I can see.

I believe I forgot to mention the most important problem - last week 60% of all leaves fell down dry. That's why I'm suspecting some sort of disease.

Or the watering is wrong. How and when do you water? You must not water to a schedule, water when needed, the soils is almost dry that may be every day or twice a day depending how quickly it dries out.
